Challenge Poll

Happy New Year everyone! We'll be back on Monday with a new challenge, but before we kick off our start of 2020, I have a quick question for you. There was a suggestion of having some more 'All Caps' challenges that were themed in some way - e.g. TV Tropes, Heroes and Villains, Full Body - but you could use any cap that had been posted to capspiration rather than just the selection from the previous two weeks. It would potentially mean more cap-hunting but could also mean the challenge themes could expand a bit more - I've been struggling to come up with themes that can be used for any fandom/selection of caps.

Would you be interested in a trial of these themed All Caps challenges? I was thinking maybe alternating and having two regular cap-restricted challenges for every themed All Caps challenge, with the un-themed All Caps challenges still happening but a bit more regularly too (maybe every 10-15th challenge rather than 20-25th).

Monday's challenge will be a cap-restricted challenge as usual, but there will be more caps than usual in order to catch up with capspiration after the hiatus here.

I would definitely love that option. I tend not to icon things I've never watched, so it would definitely give me more to work with. And I love the idea of themes! ^^

I also like the idea of using more caps for those themed challenges, because I also have sometimes problems with iconing things I haven't watched.

But I also thought that maybe in those themed challenges you could just add the caps that might fit the theme more than the ones on the cap site? I know it takes more time and effort.

Or if the people who posts the caps at the site might now the theme you're planning earlier and post some more caps that fit? Just an idea 😊

Great idea about letting the people that post caps know an upcoming theme! :) And maybe more suggestions of tv shows and movies that everyone would like to see. :)

I can definitely put out a reminder for people to go and suggest more things they would like to screencap, hopefully that will help for people who don't like iconning things they haven't seen.

I like the idea of letting cap-posters know the themes in advance, and I usually do decide on them ahead of time anyway. I don't want you guys to feel like you have to search for caps that fit particular themes though - it must take enough of your time as it is sourcing and posting screencaps :/ And it might get tricky as I tend to use caps from e.g. the two weeks prior to the challenge being posted, but that doesn't always work if, like recently, there's been a hiatus and I'm having to catch up.

For me it depends on what time of the year it is. Right now I have a little bit more time for searching for caps but in the fall I do not. I wouldn't mind having a theme once in a while but that's just me.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to sort through the caps for each challenge - but then I guess that's the same for many people and entries might reduce because people don't have time for cap hunting...

I'll speak to the cap-posters about how they feel about posting caps for the theme. But again, that might put it onus on them to do the cap-hunting, which I don't think is very fair given they already give up enough time to post the caps in the first place!

I would be fine with doing that. I also like iconing things that I haven't watched before. I just like playing around with pretty screencaps. :)

Hi! Well, I like the idea of All Caps themed.
Also if at anytime you would like to be a mod-poster at capspiration, let me know! It would be easy to include your own cap selections of a specific theme or camera view you may be thinking of for a challenge, in the capspiration mix.
By the way, I could add you as a mod there, even if you just wanted to view the entries in queue and mod posts. You wouldn't have to be on the posting schedule if you didn't want to post. And I like the suggestion mentioned above, to maybe add a few of your own cap selections to the challenge posts when the theme is something very specific.
If you were to add two or three caps for each week and it would be like you're were adding your own extra posting day. I think would be nice to see what you picked for the challenge, everyone has seen the capspiration posts, the previous week, but your caps would be something new to amuse us.
